Big Sam hails Jussi displays

Sam Allardyce has labelled Jussi Jaaskelainen one of the Premiership's best.

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce has labelled Jussi Jaaskelainen one of the best goalkeepers in The Premiership after his latest exploits against Blackburn on Sunday.

The 31-year-old repelled two Rovers penalties in the space of two minutes to keep The Trotters' unbeaten run intact.

Allardyce's side have now won four on the trot in The Premiership and lost just once all season on their way to third in the table.

A major reason for their success has been the defensive showings, with Jaaskelainen picking the ball out of the net just four times all season, three of which have been from penalties.

Jaaskelainen has produced a string of match-winning performances in recent weeks, leading Allardyce to suggest the Finnish international is one of The Premiership's best goalkeepers.

"If you are talking about top goalkeepers, he is up there with (Petr) Cech and (Edwin) van der Sar," Allardyce said.

"His performances this year have been better than ever before but none more so than Sunday.

"The keeper has made a hero of himself by saving two penalties and got us three crucial points.

"He has pulled out all the stops and made life very sweet for us."
