Allardyce admits Ilic interest

Sam Allardyce has confirmed his interest in Slovenian defender Branko Ilic.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed his interest in Slovenian defender Branko Ilic.

The player recently revealed he had been training with Bolton Wanderers and claimed he had undergone a medical with a view to a January move.

Allardyce stopped short of confirming he would be bidding for the Domzale stopper, but admits he is under consideration.

"We are interested in him, we have talked to him and we have monitored him, yes," the Bolton manager told Sky Sports News.

However, with the transfer window due to reopen in January, Allardyce is aware there will be plenty of speculation flying around.

He concedes he is keen to add to his squad if possible, but is frustrated at how quickly the rumour mill gets out of hand.

Allardyce continued: "It's the speculation that always starts again at this time of year.

"I think that always we'll look out for players in January if we can and the minute we get a sort of call, or conversation, with anybody regarding that situation, it escalates into now at this stage of the season that we are going to sign him or we're not going to sign him.

"Yes, we're looking at a number of players, but definitely at the moment we are not a certainty that we're going to sign any one player."
