No Hughes regrets over Dunn

Mark Hughes does not regret signing David Dunn from under the nose of Sam Allardyce.

Blackburn boss Mark Hughes does not regret signing David Dunn from under the nose of Sam Allardyce.

Dunn returned to his hometown club from Birmingham on Wednesday after originally looking set to join Bolton.

The 27-year-old passed a medical at The Reebok Stadium but just as he looked set to pen a deal, Rovers made a late move.

Dunn has since inked a three-and-a-half year deal with Blackburn and Hughes knew the chance to return to Ewood Park would be too good for the midfielder to ignore.

"I'm sure Sam invested a lot of time trying to persuade David that Bolton were the right club for him," Hughes said.

"But deep down I think he knows Blackburn are the right club for David.

"He has played for the club before and supported the club. David made it quite clear his first choice was Blackburn.

"The deal Bolton hoped to do with David fell down, but you accept that as a manager. It happens all the time in football."

Dunn admits he was within minutes of joining Bolton before Blackburn's 11th hour bid.

The one-time England international has since spoken to Allardyce to explain his reasons for rejecting the chance to link up with The Trotters.

Dunn added: "I was about 10 minutes from signing and then heard about Blackburn.

"I have spoken to Sam on the phone and can understand his disappointment."
