Royals release quartet

READING boss Alan Pardew has told Tony Rougier, Phil Whitehead, Sammy Igoe, Alex Smith and Steve Warren they will not be offered new contracts for next season.

The quintet are all out of contract in the summer and boss Pardew has decided not to retain any of their services.

However, The Royals are to offer Jamie Cureton, Ricky Newman and Adi Viveash new one-year deals to remain at the Madejski stadium for next term.

Reading had a tremendous season that saw them make the Division One play-offs where they were narrowly edged out by Wolves, one season after being promoted from Division Two.
