Reports over the weekend suggested that Southampton were lining up a move for the left back as a possible replacement for Chelsea target Wayne Bridge.
Shorey is highly-regarded at Reading and is contracted with the club until the summer of 2005.
Southampton are remaining coy over the future of England international Bridge, but Saints chairman Rupert Lowe insists the club have no interest in Shorey.
