Pilgrims drop Tyson interest

Plymouth Argyle have dropped their interest in transfer-listed Reading midfielder Nathan Tyson.

Pilgrims boss Paul Sturrock had declared his interest in signing Tyson on loan to freshen up his squad, but has now decided to give some of the club's fringe players a chance after the reserves beat Bournemouth 6-0 on Tuesday.

"Tyson is basically a very good player - he's an England Under-20 international," Sturrock told the Evening Herald. "But to bring him in and play him before one of the strikers would be a slap in the face.

"I was very pleased with the performance and some of the players who played on Tuesday night will be playing on Saturday.

"My thoughts now are that it would be very unfair of me to bring a loan player in and not give my squad players opportunities.

"I've decided that if we're going to get out of this wee blip I am going to use my squad to do it. They will be given the opportunity to stake a claim."
