Kitson nearing return

Reading striker Dave Kitson is nearing a return to full fitness from his knee injury.

Reading striker Dave Kitson is nearing a return to full fitness from his knee injury.

The former Cambridge United hit-man has not played since the opening day of the season after picking up the knee problem in the 3-2 home win over Middlesbrough.

Despite his absence, Royals physio Jon Fearn believes the 26-year-old is making a positive recovery.

"Dave's had a really good couple of weeks and is ready to join in training on a non-contact basis on Thursday, we'll take it from there and step it up when appropriate," Fearn told the club's official website.

The same cannot be said for American winger Bobby Convey, who is set to miss Saturday's home clash with Charlton Athletic.

"Bobby is resting the knee and will miss out," added Fearn.

"He's due to return to the UK on Sunday, so we'll assess his fitness next week.

"Hopefully, he'll be able to return to training very quickly."
