Chairboys run rule over fresh faces

Wycombe Wanderers ran the rule over three trialists during a behind-closed-doors reserve friendly against their counterparts from Aston Villa.

The Chairboys played trialist goalkeeper Lee Worgon from Wimbledon, along with Sheffield United midfielder Danny Wood and young Middlesbrough defender Anthony Storey in their reserve side.

The result on Wednesday was not to the Causeway Stadium side's liking, as Villa's reserves romped to a 4-0 victory over Wycombe's second string.

Last week, the Second Division bottom club had given trials four other players.

Portsmouth goalkeeper Chris Tardif, Norwich City right back Dean Batt, Birmingham City left back Avery John and Manchester City midfielder Glenn Whelan were all given the chance to impress Tony Adams's side.
