Harry urged to make Nonda bid

Harry Redknapp has been urged to buy Shabani Nonda by Tresor Lomana Lua Lua.

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has been urged to tie up a deal for Shabani Nonda by the Blackburn striker's international team-mate Tresor Lomana Lua Lua.

Nonda is currently on loan at Rovers from Serie A side Roma, with the Premiership club yet to decide whether to make the move permanent.

Now Lua Lua, whose Pompey team fell to two goals from Nonda in Rovers' 3-0 win last week, has urged Redknapp to steal a march on his counterpart Mark Hughes.

"He is just the type of player we need at Portsmouth," said Lua Lua. "He is a goal poacher, a great player."

Nonda has been preferred to Rovers' top goalscorer Benni McCarthy in Hughes's last two starting line ups and the South African's club-mate and compatriot Aaron Mokoena has revealed the decision has frustrated McCarthy.

Hughes believed McCarthy was suffering from fatigue and the former Porto star also admitted he was finding the Premiership physically demanding.

Mokoena revealed: "Obviously you are going to be angry about it, but that's how hungry Benni is. Yes, Benni was angry, but that's how it is sometimes and you have to deal with it."
