TOTTENHAM 0 MIDDLESBROUGH 3

MIDDLESBROUGH produced a wonderful display at White Hart Lane to defeat Tottenham 3-0.

Spurs could never get to grips with Boro's three-man attack of Alen Boskic, Joseph Job and Massimo Maccarone, with the latter proving the main live-wire for The Teessiders.

Steve McClaren's side opened the scoring after 32 minutes when Maccarone eventually scrambled the ball home.

Jonathan Greening had created the opening and his cross was met by the Italian, but his weak header fell at the feet of Boksic, who in turn miss hit his shot back to his bald-headed strike partner and then there was not mistake from the youngster.

Maccarone was again at the heart of Middlesbrough's second just before the hour mark. He ran with ball unchallenged deep into Tottenham's half, he then looked up and found the on-running Geremi who converted his first goal in his Boro career with a nice finish from 18 yards out.

The emphatic Boro win was completed just minutes later when Joseph Job ran on to a wonderful through ball from Maccarone before lashing the ball past the helpless Kasey Keller.

The win, Boro's first away from home this season, sees them move into third place.
