Keller and Friedel are equal

US INTERNATIONAL Jeff Agoos claims Brad Friedel and Kasey Keller are on a level par when it comes to being the number one goalkeeper for the States.

Both kept clean sheets in Sunday's Premiership matches, with Friedel holding Aston Villa at bay at Ewood Park and Keller shutting out Chelsea at White Hart Lane, as both continue their excellent starts to the season.

Apart from having different personalities, the San Jose defender believes the duo are equal in their ability to perform on the big stage in between the posts.

‚Ç£Kasey and Brad have slightly different personalities in little things they do,‚Ç¥ said Agoos.

‚Ç£There's no big gap between the two as far as performances go, I think it's pretty marginal.‚Ç¥

Friedel is currently the US number one, and proved to be a major part of their World cup campaign, saving two penalties and helping the States to the quarter final stages, where they were beaten by eventual finalists Germany 1-0.

However, Keller continues to show why Neil Sullivan will face a massive task to reclaim the number one jersey at Tottenham when he returns from injury, as he continues his impressive displays for Spurs.

"With Brad you get a guy who is a great shot stopper, good with crosses and who uses his feet pretty well," Agoos added.

"With Kasey I would say the same thing. He comes up with big saves and you need your goalkeeper to do that.

"The back four are very comfortable with either one of the goalkeepers."
