Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Edgar Davids has urged Martin Jol to give him his first-team place back, having made just five Premiership starts thus far this season.The combative Dutchman has fallen down his compatriot's midfield pecking order following the summer arrivals of Hossam Ghaly and, in particular, Didier Zokora.
Davids has been unable to dislodge either player from Spurs' engine room in central midfield and with the North Londoners in fine form of late, it seems unlikely Jol will concur with his player's wishes.
Tottenham have put together a ten-match unbeaten run after a slow start and for the moment at least, it seems likely Davids will cut a forlorn figure on the touchline alongside his manager.
"I am not happy," said Davids. "It is very frustrating not playing regularly and when you feel as good as I do, you need to play.
"We train hard as a squad, but I do extra training and make use of all our facilities.
"I am still one of the fittest players on the team. The manager knows my capabilities and I think I have shown my hunger on the pitch."
