Gardner targets cup clash

Anthony Gardner is confident of returning from injury for Tottenham's match at Fulham.

Tottenham defender Anthony Gardner is confident of returning from injury in time for Sunday's FA Cup fifth round clash at Fulham.

Gardner missed last weekend's defeat to Sheffield United after picking up a calf injury in his team's previous match against Manchester United.

But the player is confident of being fit enough for inclusion in Martin Jol's squad for the short trip across London to take on The Cottagers.

"I should be alright for the weekend," he said. "I thought I had a dead leg after the Manchester United game, but it didn't settle down and it turned out to be a small strain.

"It is only a minor thing though and I am working hard to try to be alright for Sunday. Fingers crossed, at the minute it looks like I will be.

"It was a little bit annoying, but the main thing is it was nothing long-term.

"These things happen, you play tough games and you can pick up a knock that keeps you out for a game.

"I've been feeling good recently and will hopefully have the chance of playing a few more games."
