Orient: No Spurs bid for Saah

Martin Ling has dismissed reports of a bid from Tottenham for Brian Saah.

Leyton Orient manager Martin Ling has dismissed reports of a £2million bid from Tottenham for Brian Saah.

Speculation suggested the 20-year-old defender had caught Martin Jol's eye and was being lined up for a possible summer move to White Hart Lane.

It was claimed Jol was concerned about the long-term fitness of Ledley King and had sent scouts to Leyton Orient to watch Saah in action.

However, Ling, who rates Saah as the best defender outside the Championship, insists the story is rubbish.

He explained: "Martin Jol has not offered £2million - if he had, we would have accepted - so there is no substance to the story.

"But I don't think there is a better defender in the bottom two divisions. He has come on in leaps and bounds this season, and he is a very, very good player.

"We have a lot of young talent, and a nucleus of scouts come to our matches."

Ling hopes any club trying to sign Saah in the summer will offer to loan him back to Orient immediately.

"I have not had the money on the table, but it might be a good move for a buying club to leave Brian where he is comfortable."
