Triple blow for Rovers

Blackburn Rovers' win over Burnley came at a cost, as a trio of players picked injuries during the FA Cup clash.

Midfielders Robbie Savage and Brett Emerton and striker Jay Bothroyd all picked up knocks in the 2-1 win, with the latter player's problem believed to be extremely serious.

Savage failed to appear for the second half after an old groin complaint flared up and he is rated doubtful for the weekend trip to Everton.

Emerton played the entire 90 minutes, but he left Ewood Park hobbling badly after damaging a calf in the dying embers of the replay.

It is not yet clear how long Emerton and Savage will be sidelined for, but they are expected to return before Bothroyd.

The rangy striker lasted just 20 minutes, having come on as a second half substitute, after suffering a thigh injury.

Bothroyd was taken to hospital due to the severity of the problem and the signs are suggesting he could miss the remainder of the season.
