Boro eye Millers keeper

MIKE POLLITT is being linked with a move to Middlesbrough to replace Fulham bound Mark Crossley.

Rotherham United's number one has reportedly caught the eye of Boro boss Steve McClaren, and could head for The Riverside to deputise for Australian Mark Schwarzer.

Ronnie Moore will be loathe to lose the 31-year-old, although he did make a loan swoop, ironically on Middlesbrough, for young Brad Jones last week.

Aston Villa's Peter Enckelman could emerge as an alternative target for McClaren, as he is known to be highly rated by the Boro manager.

The Finn has fallen out of favour at Villa Park since David O'Leary's arrival, and was handed he number 25 shirt, leaving him behind new boy Thomas Sorensen and, possibly, Stefan Postma too, in the pecking order.

As soon as Crossley gets the green light to seal his proposed switch to Fulham, McClaren will move for a replacement.
