Cherries sign Villa youth

Bournemouth have brought in Aston Villa midfielder Steven Foley on loan.

Bournemouth have brought in Aston Villa midfielder Steven Foley on a four-month loan.

Foley has yet to make the breakthrough at Villa Park, having helped the club to win the FA Youth Cup in 2002.

Villa boss David O'Leary is keen for the Republic of Ireland youth international to accrue experience and has sanctioned the move to Bournemouth.

The youngster had been on trial with The Cherries in July and played in the pre-season friendly against Charlton Athletic.

He impressed sufficiently for Bournemouth boss Sean O'Driscoll to follow up his interest and he will stay at Dean Court until December 31.

Another player to stay with The Cherries until the end of the year is midfielder Andrew Surman after the player extended his loan from Championship side Southampton.
