Villa monitor Galasek

Ajax veteran Tomas Galasek is ready to consider a winter move to The Premiership.

Ajax veteran Tomas Galasek is ready to consider a winter move to The Premiership.

The Czech Republic international is becoming frustrated at his inability to claim a regular place in the Ajax side.

Galasek admits he is disappointed that coach Danny Blind did not inform him that he would not be considered as a regular this season.

That has prompted the 32-year-old to question his future at the Amsterdam ArenA and he may seek a move when the transfer window reopens in January.

"I would have liked Ajax to have told me that I might not be first choice," said Galasek.

"Maybe I will have to look around. The alternative might be abroad."

Galasek has previously stated a desire to play in The Premiership, with Middlesbrough having been mooted as past admirers.

Aston Villa are the latest team to be named in connection with the Czech national team captain and may explore a New Year bid.

With Gavin McCann struggling for fitness on a permanent basis, Galasek could help to add some steel to the Villa engine room.
