Cherries extend Foley stay

Bournemouth have extended Steven Foley's loan and hope to sign him permanently.

Bournemouth have extended Steven Foley's loan spell and hope to sign him permanently.

The Aston Villa midfielder linked up with The Cherries at the start of the season and has subsequently impressed with his performances at Dean Court.

Villa would be happy to listen to offers for the Irishman, as he is out of contract during the summer, and Bournemouth boss Sean O'Driscoll is now looking to clinch a permanent deal after the Premiership club agreed to extend the loan deal until the end of January.

"Steven has signed another month with us and hopefully, within the month, we can sort something out to keep him here longer," he told the Bournemouth Daily Echo.

"We're talking to Steven, the agent and Aston Villa. We may be able to take him for a further month, he could return to Villa or we might sign him permanently or until the end of the season. All those scenarios are up in the air at the moment.

"We would like to know within the month if he's going to stay until end of the season or if we'll sign him on a contract.

"Whether that's possible, I'm not sure, but we'd definitely like to keep him until the end of the season."
