PLAYERS TOO POWERFUL

HEART OF MIDLOTHIAN chief executive Chris Robinson has claimed that clubs are now at the mercy of players thanks to the Bosman Ruling.

Following last season`s cut-price sale of David Weir to Everton just ahead of his deal expiring and the imminent loss of Paul Ritchie, currently on loan at Bolton, under freedom of contract, Robinson maintains that clubs cannot place a value on any of their first team squad.

Meanwhile, the Edinburgh club`s boss Jim Jefferies has rubbished reports that he is set to swoop for Newcastle United`s transfer listed youngster Jamie Coppinger.

Jefferies dismissed the link, saying: "I heard that we were supposed to be getting the player on a loan deal or for £600,000. It is nonsense."

Jefferies was earlier seen in England viewing The Magpies` second string, but was apparently running the rule over another young talent, Paul Robinson.
