Ambrose happy again

Darren Ambrose's spirits have been lifted by his recent inclusion in the Newcastle team.

Darren Ambrose admits his spirits have been lifted by his recent inclusion in the Newcastle United team.

The young midfielder has spent the bulk of the campaign having to be satisfied with a peripheral role at St James' Park.

But he has started the last four games for The Magpies and has impressed with his performances on the right-hand side of midfield.

While he was out of the team, Ambrose had been linked with a return to former club Ipswich Town.

Now he is part of Graeme Souness' plans, Ambrose concedes he could not be happier and has reiterated his desire to stay on Tyneside.

"I'm happy with the way things have gone for me in the last couple of weeks," said Ambrose.

"Any player will be unhappy when they're not involved and I'm no different. I was disappointed when I was out of the side but now I'm happy again.

"It's good to be involved and hopefully I can stay in the team for the next few games then make a claim again next season.

"I want to stay here. I love the club, I love playing for the fans and I'm sure we have a bright future.

"I want to be part of that and as I said I want to stay but at the end of the day it's down to the manager."
