Grav likes look of Magpies

Thomas Gravesen has confirmed he is interested in a move to Newcastle.

Real Madrid midfielder Thomas Gravesen has confirmed he is interested in a move to Newcastle.

The Danish destroyer is available for transfer and Magpies chief Glenn Roeder has entered into negotiations with the former Everton man.

Gravesen has a number of options available to him, but he has admitted The Magpies are a viable possibility.

"Newcastle are an excellent option," he told the Sunday Sun. "I know the team, the supporters and to be a team-mate of Michael Owen again will be a pleasure.

"I've followed their progress in Europe and I anticipate they will qualify for the Uefa Cup in the next few weeks."

Magpies chief Roeder is looking to bring in new faces, but Gravesen's agent John Sivebaek has issued a note of caution.

"We are not a few days away from a deal," stated Sivebaek. "We are not that close.

"We are in discussions with four English clubs and trying to see what is possible."
