The former Manchester United man admitted that manager Steve McClaren is not happy with the lack of goals last season, and Greening hopes to help out.
"The gaffer is on at the strikers about it," admitted Greening. "But he hammers the midfield players for not scoring as well."
The winger has been forced into a more defensive role by the presence of Boro icon Juninho, but takes on the role gladly.
"You accept it because he's world class," added Greening.
