Massimo Maccarone has pleaded for a chance to prove himself at Middlesbrough this year.The Italian striker arrived in a blaze of glory, but has never truly settled in the English game, and has spent much of his recent career on loan back in Serie A.
However, the former Italy Under-21 striker is keen to prove that he has what it takes to play in The Premiership.
"If I am given my chance in the team I will take it. I want to stay at Boro and play," said Maccarone.
"I will fight for my place but I need games.
"I am not match fit yet. But I need to play as much as possible and then I will be fit to play all the time.
"I have a lot of friends in the dressing room, so it is good to be back with my team-mates."
