Derby chase Davies deal

Derby County are hoping to land loan ace Andrew Davies on a permanent basis.

Derby County are hoping to land loan ace Andrew Davies on a permanent basis.

Davies is spending the season on loan at Pride Park from Middlesbrough and has greatly impressed Rams boss Phil Brown.

Though he has been sent off twice for the Championship club, the central defender has been a dominant figure for Derby.

He scored both goals in Saturday's 2-0 win over Norwich City to further enhance his stock with Brown and the Rams faithful.

Brown has confirmed he wants to retain the 20-year-old in the long term and is discussing the possibility of a deal with Middlesbrough.

"There are players I want to keep at the club for months and years to come, and Andrew Davies is one of them," said Brown.

"Players become available for transfer in the transfer window, we've identified our targets and we're going to go for them.

"Talks with Middlesbrough with regards to that situation are already underway and ongoing.

"I thought Andrew gave a man-of-the-match performance and he proved to be the match-winner, too, thanks to his two goals."
