Brugge consider Maccarone

Club Brugge could be ready move for Massimo Maccarone.

Club Brugge could be ready to grant Massimo Maccarone his wish of a move away from Middlesbrough.

The Italian international is settled on Teesside and has achieved cult status having grabbed last-gasp winners in consecutive rounds of the Uefa Cup against Basel and Steaua Bucharest.

However, Maccarone has hidden his frustration at being fourth choice behind Mark Viduka, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Yakubu Aiyegbeni.

Now the Belgians are monitoring Maccarone's situation, as he has just one year left on his current deal.

Maccarone, who is still Boro's record signing, could be tempted by a move to Belgium - but any potential transfer is likely to be put on hold until the Teesside outfit find their new manager.
