Arca eyes first-team return

Julio Arca is eager to make his first-team return for Middlesbrough.

Julio Arca is eager to make his first-team return for Middlesbrough after six weeks out with a broken foot.

The summer signing from Sunderland suffered the injury on his debut for Boro at Reading on the opening day of the season.

He has been working towards a return to action and made his comeback by playing for the reserves on Monday.

Arca has come through the run-out unscathed and now has his sights on a first-team match, with Boro's next fixture against Everton on October 14.

"It was nice to be back in the team," Arca told Sky Sports News.

"I am trying to get some fitness back so it was good for me. The foot is feeling okay.

"I'm looking forward to getting involved in the first team now.

"It's a bit stiff now, but that's normal after being six weeks without doing much.

"Compared to a few weeks ago, it's much better and I hope next week, or the week after, it will be even better."
