Pilgrims land Ipswich man

Boston United have signed Ipswich Town centre back Ian Miller on a month's loan.

Boston United have signed Ipswich Town centre back Ian Miller on a month's loan.

The 22-year-old is expected to make his debut for The Pilgrims when the League Two strugglers host Notts County on Saturday.

The move comes just weeks after Miller made the step up to league football when he signed for Ipswich from non-league club Bury Town.

He has not made his first-team debut for Jim Magilton's side and the defender seems set for a Football League christening with the Lincolnshire club.

"I was very impressed by what I saw from Ian," manager Steve Evans told the club's official website.

"He is strong and quick and I believe he will be a good acquisition for the squad.

"Ian came into professional football during the summer and the staff at Ipswich, including Jim Magilton and Andy Rhodes, have recognised that he has come on leaps and bounds during that time, so they saw a loan move as the next step in that progression."

Boston have also added Middlesbrough midfielder Jason Kennedy to their ranks after he arrived on a month's loan.

The news comes as Pilgrims midfielder Simon Rusk will go under the knife to repair cartilage damage in his right knee.

Rusk sustained the injury in last Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers, having just recovered from ligament damage in his left knee.

The club expects the 24-year-old to be sidelined for the next eight to ten weeks with this latest setback.
