Knee injury worries Woody

Jonathan Woodgate admits a knee problem is causing him concern.

Jonathan Woodgate admits a knee problem is causing him concern ahead of England's Euro 2008 qualifiers with Israel and Andorra.

The on-loan Middlesbrough defender has been carrying the problem for several weeks, but linked up with the England squad on Tuesday.

Steve McClaren currently expects Woodgate to travel with the party to Israel, along with Micah Richards, who hurt his calf in Manchester City's win at Middlesbrough last Saturday.

Woodgate will have his injury assessed over the coming days, but the centre-half acknowledged it is a worry.

"I have had a bit of a sore knee for a few weeks now," said Woodgate.

"I will go down to the England camp and we shall see what happens.

"We will have it looked at, but I don't know if it is okay or not."

The defender has been in fine form for Boro this season and is trying to disrupt the current partnership of Rio Ferdinand and skipper John Terry in England's back-line.
