Johnson: No Keogh contact

Gary Johnson says Middlesbrough have not contacted Bristol City about Richard Keogh.

Bristol City manager Gary Johnson has told skysports.com he has had no contact from Middlesbrough over defender Richard Keogh.

The 20-year-old's impressive form in League One has reportedly attracted the attention of a number of clubs, but Johnson has categorically denied rumours in two national newspapers this week that Keogh could be set for a £750,000 switch.

"There is no truth in the story and it's just a case of agents and journalists building up speculation from what I can tell," Johnson told skysports.com.

"This season, we've had two players linked to Middlesbrough and two to Coventry City. It's no surprise that they are two of the sides we have played in the FA Cup, so you can see how the stories come about.

"We've had no contact from anyone, and that's the way I want to keep it. Although it's nice to have our players recognised, everyone here is purely focused on pushing for the League One title, and that's what we will do."
