BENFICA DENY BOA MORTE BID

BENFICA have denied reports that they approached Fulham striker Luis Boa Morte about a possible move to Portugal, although have not ruled making a move for the player in the future.

The 24-year-old had been strongly linked with a move to back to Lisbon by the Portuguese media who claimed that the player would love to return to the city where he played as a junior with Sporting.

However, Benfica general director of the club Antonio Simoes said no approach has been made as yet, but did not deny being interested in the player and whispers in the game suggest he will return to Portugal at the end of the season.

The former Arsenal striker is currently on loan at Craven Cottage from Southampton and has been a revelation in the First Division, scoring 16 goals this season.

Cottagers boss Jean Tigana has said he hopes to sign the player permanently, but if the West London club do not move soon it appears they will only enjoy his services for another three months.
