Maniero would move to big club

FULHAM target Filippo Maniero admits he would find it difficult to resist the overtures of a big club.

The Venezia striker has been mooted as a possible solution to The Premiership outfit's goalscoring problems, and he boasts an enviable record in Serie A this season.

Maniero has netted eight goals in 14 appearances for the bottom club, and his prowess has alerted several clubs to his talent.

The 30-year-old admits he is happy to stay with Venezia, but would not rule out a transfer if the right club came knocking on his door.

"My intention is to remain with Venezia and give my contribution to the fight against relegation," said Maniero.

"Obviously, if there was a call from a great club, then nobody would say no.

"Italian strikers are doing well at the moment, and players like Dario Hubner and Marco Di Vaio are showing their true worth."

Meanwhile, Venezia's promising midfielder Valentino Lai has pledged his international allegiance to Italy, rather than Sweden.

"In the middle of December, I was on a camp with the Under-18 side in Rome," Lai told Sportbladet.

"I will accept the one who calls me first, but since they didn't call me in Sweden, I chose Italy."

The 18-year-old quit Scandinavia two years ago to join Venezia, and he admits he was disappointed his previous club Malmo did not provide him with a greater opportunity.

"I was disappointed with Malmo because they never gave me a real chance."
