Boa backs Big Phil

Luis Boa Morte says Luiz Felipe Scolari would be a great choice for England.

Luis Boa Morte says Luiz Felipe Scolari would be a great choice as the next England manager.

Fulham winger Boa Morte has worked with the big Brazilian in his current role as Portugal's national boss, and says he would be a great asset to England.

Scolari has risen in prominence recently in the running to become Sven Goran Eriksson's successor after the World Cup.

After winning the last World Cup with Brazil, Scolari led Portugal to the final of Euro 2004 and his credentials on the international stage are beyond doubt.

Although the debate is still raging on whether a British manager should now be employed, Boa Morte believes that Scolari would be a great appointment

"Definitely, because of his pedigree with Brazil and teams he managed before," Boa Morte told Sky Sports News about Scolari.

"He almost got Portugal to win the European Championships so he was one step away from being champion of Europe.

"I think he did well in the qualifying round and did really well to get (Portugal) to the World Cup.

"I think we're going to have a good World Cup so if he becomes England manager it would definitely be a great signing for England."
