Skoko seals move

Australian midfielder Josip Skoko has sealed his move to Wigan.

Australian midfielder Josip Skoko has been given the green light to kick-start his Premiership career after finally sealing his move to Wigan.

The 28-year-old agreed a move to The JJB Stadium earlier in the summer, but his hopes of starting the season with his new team were dashed due to a wrangle over a work permit.

Skoko was forced to travel to Croatia, where he played for Hajduk Split, to pick up his permit before heading to Turkey to tie up a couple of loose ends with his previous club Genclerberligi.

The midfielder has resolved his issues with the Turkish club and is ready to start his Wigan career, having arrived in Britain on Monday evening.

He signed a two-year contract upon his arrival and is in contention to face Sunderland at the weekend.

Latics chief Paul Jewell has been handed a further boost with the news that Irish midfielder Graham Kavanagh and Scottish forward Lee McCulloch have returned to training and could also feature against The Black Cats.

Kavanagh has been nursing a heel complaint, while McCulloch has been forced to battle back from a knee problem and both are looking to feature in the near future.
