Scottish stopper Andy Webster says he is desperate to start his Wigan Athletic career after a frustrating pre-season.

The Hearts man is awaiting news from Fifa regarding his move to The JJB Stadium after invoking a rule that allows him to leave for another country after thee years of a four year deal.

Whilst the deal has already been done, Webster is not allowed to play first-team football until Fifa have decided on the appropriate level of compensation that should be paid to the SPL side.

The 24-year-old is now hoping to be allowed the chance to shine for The Latics as soon as possible to repay his new boss Paul Jewell.

"It's been frustrating as I have not been able to enjoy a proper pre-season," Webster told the Daily Record.

"I really can't wait to get started and start repaying some of the faith the club have shown in me.

"I had just been at home working on my own trying to keep fit."
