Francis prefers Blades to Black Cats

Bradford defender Simon Francis has revealed he would prefer to join Sheffield United rather than Sunderland.

Both clubs have been battling it out for the highly-rated 19-year-old, but it appears Sheffield United are going to win the race for Francis.

Francis admitted he is almost certain to move to Bramall Lane as he believes he has more chance of playing regularly for Sheffield United than at Sunderland.

"I would rather choose Sheffield United," Francis told the Bradford Telegraph & Argus.

"It would be a good move for me for several reasons, my family, location and I also believe there would be a better chance of playing regularly.

"They were also the first club that showed an interest in me. Even last season when we played them before, Nicky Law was saying that they were watching me."

Francis is the second Bradford player to snub Sunderland in favour of a move to Sheffield United following Andy Gray's move to Bramall Lane.
