Worthy admits Jerome interest

Nigel Worthington has admitted an interest in Cardiff City striker Cameron Jerome.

Nigel Worthington has admitted an interest in Cardiff City striker Cameron Jerome, while also saying he would like to sign Chris Sutton in the summer.

Jerome has netted 13 goals so far this season for The Bluebirds, and that form has attracted a huge amount of interest in him.

Several Premiership sides are thought to be looking at the 19-year-old, and Worthington has admitted that he has checked on his situation.

However, Worthington says that Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock has already made a bid for Jerome and could be one step ahead in the race.

"He's a player at Cardiff we're interested in," Worthington told Sky Sports News.

"He's a player I admire and I'm sure other managers do.

"I admire him greatly and have made a call to the club about the situation. That's as far as it's gone but I believe Sheffield United have got an offer on the table too.

"We'll just monitor it as we go on."

Worthington also admitted that he would like to bring Sutton back to Carrow Road.

The former Celtic marksman left Parkhead to join Birmingham on a free transfer, but has only signed until the summer, and Worthington could move for him then.

"It's a situation where we'll just have to wait and see," said Worthington.

"It's very early. Chris is an excellent player, he might be a little too expensive for ourselves at this moment in time, ie personal terms and so on, but we'll let the next few months fly past.

"We'll see where we're at then and see where he is and go from there."
