Neil Warnock has moved to quash speculation over Paddy Kenny's fitness.
Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has moved immediately to quash suggestions that goalkeeper Paddy Kenny requires an operation.
Kenny has been troubled by a knee problem, but Warnock claims that reports the injury is so severe it will need Kenny to go under the knife are wide of the mark.
Warnock did reveal, however, that the 28-year-old underwent treatment after meeting up with the Republic of Ireland squad ahead of their friendly clash with Chile last month.
"There is no truth in the reports," Warnock told the club's official website.
"He did travel with the Irish squad last month and had treatment on an injury, but it is not of major concern."
Some sources had even suggested that Kenny, a key member of The Blades' promotion-winning squad, would not be fit in time for the start of the new Premiership season.
However, Warnock expects the former Bury keeper to be fit and ready for The Blades' return to the top flight.
"Paddy will be back in pre-season with everyone else as planned," added Warnock.
