Preston North End chairman Derek Shaw has admitted that the club have turned down two offers for defender Claude Davis.The Jamaican international was one of the club's star performers last season as they lost in the play-offs, and now a number of Premiership sides have registered their interest.
Promoted Sheffield United have previously been mentioned in the same breath as the 27-year-old, and although Shaw was unwilling to name names, the North End supremo revealed the club have turned down two approaches.
However Shaw will also let Davis leave the club should a sufficient offer be received, in accordance with an agreement laid down when the player signed a new deal back in January.
"When Claude signed his last contract we agreed to listen to offers above a certain valuation and his agent has been in discussions with Premiership clubs," said Shaw.
"We've had two offers for Claude in the last fortnight which we have had to turn down as they don't meet the board's valuation of a player held in high regard at the club.
"I received a call from Claude in Jamaica last week and he respectfully asked that if the right bid came along we would not stand in his way.
"But at this moment in time we haven't had a bid which meets our valuation."
