Glovers in winger search

Yeovil Town's pursuit for a left-sided winger continues this pre-season.

Yeovil Town's pursuit for a left-sided winger continues, despite dropping their interest in two of their targets.

The Glovers have opted not to pursue their interest in Accrington Stanley's Gary Roberts after having three bids turned down, while Leyton Orient's Daryl McMahon has come off Yeovil's target list.

Huish Park boss Russell Slade, meanwhile, has taken former Sheffield United man Adrian Harper, West Ham United youngster Ishmael Welsh and former Rushden & Diamonds player Gary Mills on trial.

The West Country club have also been linked with the likes of Cardiff City's Paul Parry, Swansea City's Kevin McLeod and Ross County's John Rankin.

Glovers general manager of football John Milton says the club will keep searching for the right players.

"We were already spinning plates on three or four and another one came into the fold today (Friday)," Milton told the Western Daily Press.

"I cannot name him, but it is a quite significant one. He is somebody who has been released from a Championship club.

"On Parry, we have not spoken to Cardiff yet about money - we have just spun the plate on that one.

"John Rankin is one who we would be certainly looking at, but McMahon is no longer part of that group. We made an enquiry, but we have decided not to follow that up.

"Ishmael Welsh has been doing very well and we are pleased. Now, we just need to see him some more."
