Young backing Curbs

Luke Young is backing Alan Curbishley to replace Sven Goran Eriksson.

England full back Luke Young is backing Charlton boss Alan Curbishley to succeed Sven Goran Eriksson.

Young's club manager has already thrown his hat into the ring to replace the Swedish tactician once he calls time on his Three Lions tenure.

Former Tottenham defender Young believes Curbishley has all the attributes to shine at international level, with his man-management skills coming to the fore.

Young impressed in England's 1-0 win against Wales after being entrusted with the role following Gary Neville's injury and is full of praise for Curbishley.

"England already have a great manager but in the future, if Alan Curbishley was England manager, he would do a great job," explained Young.

"He has a lot of experience which comes from being at the same club for so many years. He has shown he can be a good man-manager.

"He always talks to you and you know what he wants from you. If he is unhappy with you he will pull you aside, talk about it and make sure that you work out it.

"There is no doubt he would get the respect from the England players. I have a lot to thank him for."
