Marlon King has denied suggestions that he was kicked out of Jamaica's squad.
Marlon King has denied suggestions that he was kicked out of Jamaica's squad to face England, insisting that it was his own decision to leave.
Reports emanating from the Caribbean have claimed that the Watford striker was punished for his uncouth behaviour upon hearing that he had broken curfew.
However, King has defended himself by saying that a series of misunderstandings led to him becoming so exasperated that he had to leave of his own accord.
"I actually left, I had to leave to clear my head and now I'm getting phone calls and listening to the radio that I've been expelled from the camp," he told Sky Sports News.
"On Tuesday night, me and three other players went out because there was no curfew or anything.
"We came back in about 2am and went to our rooms to find we'd been locked out.
"We were told we weren't allowed back in due to the fact there was a curfew set at 11.30pm, which is after we left at 10pm.
"We didn't think there was going to be a meeting at 11.30pm. That was the main reason really.
"To be told the curfew was set at 11.30pm is ridiculous. We were told we couldn't go back into our rooms so I decided to go home.
"The other players have been reinstated for whatever reason and I'm going to spend some time with my family."
King will miss the chance to parade his skills in front of a sell-out Old Trafford crowd on Saturday, but is still hoping to represent his country in the future.
"I spoke to the Jamaican Football Federation president (Crenston Boxhill) and said 'if you felt disrespected in any way I apologise, I want to play for my country, if you let me know what the situation is,'" he explained.
"He said he'd get back to me within an hour but no phone call was received.
"My agent rang him and he said 'call back in an hour, we're still making the decision', and the next thing I know is when the news and radio say I've been axed.
"I was never axed. I actually left the camp.
"I love playing for Jamaica. If the opportunity came up I would love to play for my country again but I've been told I've been axed unofficially."
