Adrian Boothroyd remained optimistic despite Watford losing late on to Arsenal.
Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd is remaining optimistic despite his side's late defeat at the hands of Arsenal.The Hornets are still propping up the Premiership after Robin van Persie's 83rd minute strike condemned them to a 2-1 defeat at Vicarage Road.
Whilst Watford would have been good value for a draw, Boothroyd was determined to look on the bright side following the latest setback to his hopes of achieving salvation.
"I'm in a privileged position, I've got a good chairman and a good board, great staff that back me and players, and you do feel at times that you have a water pistol against what is a huge cannon, so to speak," Boothroyd told Sky Sports.
"But I thought we gave it a go tonight and we will continue to give it a go.
"Let's get things into perspective, our status in the Premiership next season isn't going to depend on results against Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea, it is going to be the rest so we have got to take the positives and move on."
Boothroyd also confirmed that Hornets forward Hameur Bouazza is likely to face a spell on the sidelines after suffering a suspected dislocated shoulder in the second half.
"I thought he [Bouazza] was excellent but we ended up losing him as well. He has popped his shoulder out so he could be out for a while," said Boothroyd.
"He has done it before so that might help him or it might hinder him, I don't know."
