Midfielder damages medial knee ligaments

Hull City veteran Nicky Barmby is out for six weeks with a knee injury. Barmby damaged medial ligaments during Saturday's 2-1 win over Norwich City and was replaced after 29 minutes by Michael Bridges. The midfielder is likely to be out until early October with the problem, but Tigers boss Phil Brown expects the 33-year-old to bounce back from the injury. "Nick will be out for between four and six weeks because it's his medials," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail. "But he proved a lot of critics wrong last year with regards his recovery from an impact injury. "People said then after Christmas that he would be out for the season and he got back for the last six games. "He's a tough character and he'll try his hardest to get back in the team. His injury was the only downside to Saturday."
