The Chelsea star recently agreed another year-long loan deal to stay at St Andrews following his superb campaign this time around - which has seen him bag 19 goals so far.
Bruce concedes that the retention of the Finland international has led him to shelve plans to move for Kezman because the two strikers are too similar in style.
Blues were reported to have lodged a firm bid for the Serbo-Montenegrin star - although Bruce later denied this - but it now seems they will not be stepping up their interest.
"Kezman was somebody we were looking at but he may be a bit too similar to Mikael," Bruce told the club's official website.
"With the way strikers usually work together, we may have to look for a different type of player to get the right blend to complement Mikael."
Meanwhile, the Brum boss has also confirmed that David Dunn has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The former Blackburn star has seen his first term at St Andrews heavily disrupted by a hamstring injury, and the problem will now sideline him for the final two games of the campaign.
The England international made his latest comeback from the problem at Arsenal last weekend, but he has subsequently suffered a reaction and will now miss the clash with his former club on the final day of the season.
"It's a darn shame because I know he wants to play against Blackburn," stated Bruce.
"I also know there are places to play for in the Premiership, and huge money available for every one, but I can't risk him being injured for the summer.
"He has had a bit of a reaction after the Arsenal game and I blame myself to an extent because I probably left him on the pitch too long but he was such a threat in the first half.
"David has done the hamstring three times and we've done everything we possibly can. We've gone down every route.
"It is certainly not like it was but the reaction to it after Saturday means something is still not quite right.
"But we are pretty sure if he rests it in the summer and does extra rehab then he will be fine for pre-season."
