Foxes in Blues enquiry

Leicester are chasing Birmingham's keeping duo Ian Bennett and Nico Vaesen.

Leicester City are chasing Birmingham City's goalkeeping duo Ian Bennett and Nico Vaesen.

New Foxes manager Craig Levein is looking to bring in a new keeper after being less than enamoured by Kevin Pressman's performances since his appointment.

After Pressman's error gifted Sunderland the points at The Walkers Stadium on Saturday, Levein hinted he would aim to sign a shot-stopper this week.

Levein has stuck to his word and has made enquiries about the availability of Birmingham's experienced pair Bennett and Vaesen.

Neither keeper has played for Blues this season with Maik Taylor the undisputed number one at St Andrews.

Bennett is out of contract at the end of the season while Vaesen only signed a new deal with the Premiership club in the summer.

Both players would likely jump at the chance of first team football, with Blues boss Steve Bruce waiting to discover if Levein follows up his initial interest.

"We have had an enquiry from Leicester," confirmed Bruce. "It's common knowledge that they are looking for a goalkeeper.

"They've spoken to us about Benno and Nico and that's as far as it's gone at the moment."
