Arca happy at Sunderland

Sunderland full back Julio Arca says he has never been happier at The Stadium of Light.

The Argentinian has been in his best form since his arrival at Sunderland two years ago as The Black Cats push for a swift return to The Premiership.

Arca had feared that he would be sold during the summer as the cash-strapped club attempted to stabilise following their relegation from the top flight, but he has been one of the outstanding performers in the First Division this campaign.

He said: "This is one of the happiest times I can remember since I joined Sunderland.

"My first season here was great but this one could be even better. We're playing well, winning matches, and giving the fans some great football. That's what people want to see."

The 22-year-old will serve a one-match ban after facing Cardiff City, after his sending-off against Sheffield United.

"Looking back at the Sheffield United game, I'm upset that I will have to miss a game for the red card. Nobody wants to miss a game at the moment because the team is playing so well.

"But that's football - I will take my punishment and wish my team well in my absence. I'm just delighted the way things are going," said Arca
