Smith stays with Wrexham

Sunderland striker Kevin Smith will spend a second month on loan at Wrexham.

Sunderland striker Kevin Smith will spend a second month on loan at Wrexham.

The teenager made the move to North Wales at the end of October and has caught the eye over the course of the last four weeks.

He has done enough to impress Dragons manager Denis Smith who has been successful in persuading his Sunderland counterpart Roy Keane to allow him to keep his namesake at The Racecourse Ground for another month.

Smith has scored twice for Wrexham and is hopeful of continuing his good run in front of goal.

"The gaffer here at Wrexham, Denis Smith, asked me to extend my loan for another month and I'm just more than happy to help out and play a few games," said the 19-year-old.

"At Sunderland, my chances are limited so obviously I'm delighted to come out on loan and get a few goals.

"Hopefully I can get on the scoresheet again this weekend against Boston."
