Black Cats bag Edwards

Sunderland have bagged Carlos Edwards from Luton Town for £1.4million.

Sunderland's busy day of transfer activity has continued after the club bagged Carlos Edwards from Luton Town for £1.4million.

The club have already signed Marton Fulop permanently from Spurs with Ben Alnwick moving in the opposite direction, while Liam Lawrence has completed his switch to Stoke.

However, The Black Cats have now splashed out on Luton's highly-rated Trinidad and Tobago international Edwards, who has penned a three-and-a-half year contract.

The 28-year-old, formerly of Wrexham, made over 50 league appearances for The Hatters following his free transfer switch from the Welsh outfit in the summer of 2005.

Edwards could now make his Black Cats debut in the club's FA Cup clash at high-flying Preston North End this weekend.
