McLeod wants Derby stay

Derby County striker Izale McLeod has revealed he wants to stay and fight for his place in the Pride Park first team.

The young hit-man has recently been linked with a move to Eastern Europe - with Russian side Shinnik Yaroslavi and Ukrainian club Metallurg Donetsk being mentioned with a move for the 19-year-old.

Despite the links with clubs in the former Soviet Union, McLeod stated that he is determined to get back into George Burley's squad and is not interested in leaving the struggling Division One outfit.

"This has come out of the blue really and it's flattering but I want to play for Derby County so I'm not looking to move," said McLeod.

"My aim is to get back into the first team on a regular basis and I hope to be in the side which plays against Crystal Palace on Saturday."

McLeod has only made eight appearances for The Rams so far this term, with the club in a fight to try and stay up in the First Division.
